The Second Part of a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Session - Hypnosis / Trance / Deep Relaxation

Welcome to the next chapter of our Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Therapy journey!

In this blog post series, we're delving into the typical structure of our Solution Focused Hypnotherapy sessions.

This can be done either at my private therapy room in Upper Heyford (nr Bicester), Oxfordshire or online.

We'll now dive into the second part of the session, hypnosis / trance / deep relaxation

I get it; those words might trigger images of pocket watches and people doing animal impersonations on stage, but hang tight because we're in for a totally different vibe.

Before we even whisper "trance/ hypnosis," we've laid the groundwork in parts 1 and 2. It's like a customised formula for success, finely tuned to make the entire process effective and powerful—tailored specifically for you.

So, what happens in this next part of the session?

Now, picture this: after exploring the Miracle Question and painting a vivid image of your feel-good moment, it's trance/hypnosis/deep relaxation time.

Your conscious mind takes a breather, and we're getting comfy. Whether you're lounging back in your chair or snuggling up on the sofa, as long as I can see you, we're good. Remember, I see people both in person at my therapy room in Upper Heyford (nr Bicester) Oxfordshire, or online nationally.

Switching things up physically signals to your brain that we're changing gears. Cue some soothing music, and I'll guide you through relaxation techniques and the trance like state begins.

Remember that recording I gave you for homework? Yeah, it's like a comforting friend by now, setting the stage for genuine relaxation.

Now, deep relaxation / trance / hypnosis isn't about losing control; it's about feeling in control while being deeply relaxed. Your mind takes a little daydreaming detour, and that's perfectly fine. Some clients even doze off. But you will be aware of what is happening and can rouse whenever you want to.

As I weave language patterns, it's all subtle suggestions to make you feel better.

We start with physical relaxation, head to toe, throw in some relaxing visualisations—picture strolling down the hill off a tropical island or drifting through a magical rainbow—and sprinkle in positive affirmations tailored to your goals.

What does hypnosis/trance feel like?

Ever driven somewhere and blanked out on parts of the journey? Or watched a movie, and suddenly two hours have vanished? That's the state of mind we're aiming for. It can be different for everyone and isn’t always the same every time.

You don't need to hang onto every word I say during this; you've got all the answers inside you. If I told you what to do directly, you'd snap back to full alertness, missing out on that deep relaxation goodness.

How does it work?

It's a bit like a mini nap, but your subconscious is working overtime, communicating with all parts of your brain, brewing up ideas to reshape your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It’s similar to the part of the sleep cycle called Rapid Eye Movement (REM) where we process the events of the day and turn emotional memories into narrative memories, where we can make a more intellectual assessment over events and feelings.

In this relaxed state, your mind becomes highly receptive to positive suggestions and imagery, enabling you to tap into your subconscious mind with ease. Think of it as a state of highly focused attention.

Your conscious mind is quietened, as you are detached from external attention and critical thinking, allowing your unconscious mind to deeply focus on thoughts and suggestions (the solutions we discussed) that might be useful to you.

Making those solutions a reality, that your rational mind will often reject.

Because when you experience this state of mind after our solution focused work, magic happens. Your stress bucket gets a good emptying, and your subconscious is the brainpower, generating solutions customised just for you.

Concluding the session

Once we wrap up the hypnosis/trance part, you gently 'wake up,' open your eyes, and sit up.

No major transformation, just a bit like you've had a refreshing nap.
