It’s based on the latest research from neuroscience and incorporates the very best elements of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Clinical Hypnotherapy.
It combines a non-invasive form of ‘talking therapy’ with a gentle trance-like state that puts you in control, replacing negative anxious thoughts, allowing your mind to be open to positive changes.
It essentially helps ‘silence’ the negative chatter in your mind, harnessing the principles of neuroplasticity to facilitate positive neural pathway changes, allowing you to reshape your thought patterns, emotions and behaviours towards a desired outcome.
Normally, I work with clients over a number of weeks, usually between 6 to 12 weeks, but everyone is different and we work in a solution focused way.

The first step is for you to book a Free Discovery Session / Initial Consultation and ask me anything you want to know about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.
I can tell you more about hypnotherapy, my approach and we can delve into the neuroscience, how the mind creates unwanted negative thoughts, behaviours and the symptoms. Clients find these sessions very insightful and a real game changer! For 15-17 years olds, a parent will typically be in the Discovery Session/Initial Consultation.
I’ll outline what we can do to create positive change and you can also make sure it’s the right therapy for you.
Supporting you and working together
We will work together to explore your needs. This is a collaborative process and we work jointly to put in place the right personalised treatment plan, including the expected number of hypnotherapy sessions.
Our hypnotherapy sessions together will be structured, positive and forward looking. We put actions in place and you are given the tools to make the necessary changes you want to make in your life.
Remember, hypnotherapy is not a quick fix, you have to fully be willing to make the necessary lasting change. But as your hypnotherapist I will support and guide you every step of the way.
Creating positive and lasting change
Our hypnotherapy sessions will find strengths you already posses. I will support and help you consider and refine your solutions that can move you forward towards a more positive life.
We review your progress regularly. As you begin to reach your goals, you may want to leave more times between sessions.
Taking things forward
Your treatment comes to an end when you feel confident and in control and we mutually agree that you have the tools to maintain this positive new way of being. Most people need between 6-12 hypnotherapy sessions (but everyone is different). Simple / Specific phobias can require less sessions.
Some clients choose to boost their results by coming for top-ups as part of a regular wellbeing routine. Like having a PT, but for your mental health.
What happens in a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session?
Psychotherapy / ’Talking’ Therapy
Our sessions will start with non-invasive talking therapy.
I’ll guide you in envisioning your desired future, exploring potential solutions, and setting attainable goals.
Together, we'll prioritise discovering how you want to feel (i.e feeling calmer, rather than anxious), focusing on forward-thinking strategies (the solutions).
While we may touch on the past occasionally, my main aim is to steer you away from dwelling on the problem and towards a preferred outcome.
These goals are framed to reinforce positive changes and encourage progress.
Through visualising these solutions, the mind begins to create new neurological pathways, reshaping thoughts, emotions, and behaviours toward achieving the desired outcome (related to want you want to achieve through therapy).
Depending on your goals, your sessions could involve elements of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), as appropriate.
This part typically lasts around 30 minutes.
Hypnosis / Trance
The second half involves me gently guiding you into a state of deep relaxation, commonly known as trance/hypnosis.
You can sit up or recline back – whatever feels most comfortable. And yes, trance/hypnosis works just as effectively online as it does face to face.
In this relaxed state, your mind becomes highly receptive to positive suggestions and imagery, enabling you to tap into your subconscious mind with ease.
Think of it as a state of highly focused attention.
Your conscious mind is quietened, as you are detached from external attention and critical thinking, allowing your unconscious mind to deeply focus on thoughts and suggestions (the solutions we discussed) that might be useful to you.
Making those solutions a reality, that your mind will often reject.
After each session, you'll find yourself leaving a little lighter and brighter than when you first arrived.
This positive momentum will stay with you as you continue on your journey of growth and transformation.
